Latest See the chuck video recorded in Watamu 2009 it will make you *smile*
The following is our independent view of the hotel and we are not connected with Turtle Bay Beach Club. It was an idea location to be able to walk down to the Children Of Watamu SDA school and experience a real taste of Kenya. All set by the warm seas and whitesands of the Indian Ocean that go on for mile after mile its an ideal location for sun lovers, swimmers, fishermen, bird watchers, walkersand so much more. The hotel is ideal for people of all ages who like the all inclusiveexperience the staff cannot do enough and will do all they can to make your stay that bit special. You will leave with many
new friends, a few words of Swahili especially "Jambo"and will probably want to come back over and over again, many do. These repeaters make you very welcome and wail be able give you a few holiday tips. One of the special things I liked about the hotel was that it cared about the community and has their own community officer it was Felix but is now Collins who will be happy to show how they help and how you can help the various community projects. Its also a Eco tourist location more on that another time I was given an eco tour by Felix. Tumu who organises trips is well worth chatting to apart from her gorgeous smile she will be able to organise trips. The one you must do is a Walk to the village early morning with Jonathan Baya who will walk you through the village opposite the hotel and down to the creek you will see so much of the real Kenya village life and its community and
Jonathan will identify the many birds you will see and hear. A good start to the day and will give you a good appetite for breakfast. There are many other trips we also enjoyed a trip to Hells Kitchen which is 90 minutes drive away but well worth it Tumu will organise a packed lunch for you which you can share with your guide at Hells Kitchen and driver. Our driver was Ben who was good apart from supporting Arsenal! He drove on several trips and we became good friends. We will write more on the trips and give advice soon. Fell free to ask questions or to send in your advice about staying at Turtle Bay beach Club. Our main reason was to visit SDA school and of course that can be organised for you. We even had a chance to teach a class who enjoyed learning about England.
A few facts which were correct at time of writing about Turtle bay beach club (copying!). To find out more visit their website you can book direct and they will help with transport from theairport. As I said its ideal for all the family for people who like active holidays or relaxing. Nothing is too much bother and Damion the manager and his staff wail make you most welcome and part of the big Turtle Bay Beach Club family. (TBBC) we have the t-shirts to prove it!
CLUB PROPERTY
Turtle Bay Beach Club is situated on 200 metres of beach on the edge of the
internationally acclaimed Watamu National Marine Park, one of the best in Kenya. The hotel buildings are set in 10 acres of tropically landscaped gardens with 145 rooms, three restaurants, three bars, entertainment lounge and swimming pool, and as such makes up one of the most extensive all-inclusive properties in Kenya.
If you're looking for somewhere that's brimming with nature, the Turtle Bay Beach Club will be right up your street. Sitting in the heart of a National Marine Park in ten acres of gorgeous gardens, this attractive hotel will have your jaw dropping faster than you can say paradise.
At Turtle Bay, conservation's high up on the agenda. They have a 'Save the Turtle'
campaign, which aims to preserve the rapidly dying species. And every Saturday there's a 'beach clean up', where guests are encouraged to pick up seaweed and debris, with a prize for the person who collects the most. A lot of the items are chopped up and recycled, or turned into something useful. Around the hotel you'll see plenty of original art made from things washed up on the shore, like trendy mosaics made from small squares of discarded flip flops. And if you look closely, you'll see that the cupboards, furniture and cabinets are made from broken-down dhow canoes.
